Privacy Policy
What ERWaitTimes.ca collects, why, and what we never do with it.

In short
- There are no accounts, and we set no cookies.
- Your location or postal code is used once to sort a list and is never stored.
- We count visits to each hospital page without cookies, and keep only daily totals.
- Our hosting provider keeps short-lived server logs, as every website does.
- We don't sell or share personal information, and we don't run advertising trackers.
What we collect
Nothing you type into a form is stored. When you load a page, our hosting provider (Vercel) records the address requested, your IP address, your browser's user agent and the time. These logs are used to keep the site running and secure, and are deleted automatically after a short period.
We measure page speed with Vercel Speed Insights, which collects performance timings without cookies and without identifying you.
We count how many times each hospital or urgent care page is viewed, and how many different people view it each day, to show which sites are checked most. To tell visitors apart without cookies, your IP address and browser details are turned into a one-way code mixed with a random value that changes every day. The code can't be turned back into your IP address, and it and the day's random value are deleted when the day ends. We keep only the daily totals for each site. Automated traffic such as search engine crawlers isn't counted.
Your location and postal code
- If you tap “Use my location”, your browser asks your permission first. Your position is rounded to about 1 km on your device before it is sent, and it is used only to sort the list of nearby sites.
- If you sort a directory by “Closest”, your browser asks your permission first, and the distances are worked out on your device. Your position isn't sent to us at all.
- If you enter a postal code, only its first 3 characters are used, which cover a whole neighbourhood.
- Neither is saved to a database or linked to you. They appear in the address of the results page, so they stay in your own browser history, and our server logs keep them only as long as other log data.
Maps
Facility pages show a Google map, which loads only when you scroll near it. When it loads, Google receives your IP address and browser details, and Google's privacy policy applies to that map.
Where data is processed
Our database is hosted in Canada (Montréal region), and the site's server functions run in Montréal. Pages are delivered through a global content network, so a request may pass through a server outside Canada.
