Most-checked ER wait times

The emergency departments and urgent care centres people check most often.

How to find the shortest ER wait near me

The closest ER isn't always the quickest. Compare the wait at the two or three sites nearest to you, then weigh it against the drive: a shorter wait further away is only worth it if the trip is safe.

Wait times are estimates from the health system and change quickly. Everyone is assessed on arrival (triage), and the most urgent patients are always seen first, so your own wait may be shorter or longer than the number shown.

If it isn't an emergency, an urgent care centre is often quicker for problems that need care today.

Chest pain, signs of a stroke, severe bleeding or trouble breathing: call 911. Don't drive yourself.

ER wait times near me: questions

How do you find the ERs near me?

We sort the emergency departments and urgent care centres that publish a wait time by straight-line distance from your location or postal code, closest first. Distances are as the crow flies, not driving time, so check the route before you leave.

Why isn't my closest hospital listed?

We only list sites whose health system publishes a wait time online. Right now that means sites with a wait published by Niagara Health, Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, WRHN @ Queen's Blvd., London Health Sciences Centre, WRHA HSC Children's Emergency, LHSC Children's Hospital, WRHA Urgent Care, edwaittimes.ca, Brant Community Healthcare System, WRHN @ Midtown, Halton Healthcare, BCHS Willett Urgent Care Centre, Windsor Regional Hospital emergency wait times, Hamilton Emergency Wait Times and Alberta Health Services. A hospital that doesn't publish its wait isn't shown, so there may be an ER closer to you than the ones listed.

Is the closest ER the one with the shortest wait?

Not always. Waits are estimates that change quickly, and the most urgent patients are always seen first. A shorter wait further away is only worth it if the trip is safe. In an emergency, call 911 instead of driving. If you're not sure where to go, call Health Link (811), HealthLink BC (811), Health Links – Info Santé (204-788-8200) and Health811 (811) to talk to a nurse.

Do you store my location or postal code?

No. Your location is used once to sort the list and is rounded to about 1 km first. From a postal code we only use the first 3 characters, which cover a whole neighbourhood. Neither is saved.

Medical emergency? Call 911 now.

Do not check wait times or drive yourself if you have chest pain, signs of a stroke, severe bleeding or trouble breathing. Paramedics can start treatment on the way to hospital.
