About University of Alberta Hospital
University of Alberta Hospital is a hospital in Edmonton, Alberta. Emergency department: All ages. This service is open 24 hours a day.
University of Alberta Hospital, often called the U of A Hospital or UAH, is an Alberta Health Services teaching and research hospital on the University of Alberta's main campus in Edmonton, beside the Health Sciences/Jubilee LRT station. It opened in 1906 as the Strathcona Hospital. Today it shares the Walter C. Mackenzie Health Sciences Centre with the Stollery Children's Hospital and the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute, and AHS describes it as a referral centre for western and northern Canada.
Its emergency department is open 24/7. The hospital is a Level 1 trauma centre, and its Firefighters Burn Treatment Unit takes patients from across Western Canada.
Adults use the Adult Emergency Entrance. Children and teens 17 and under have their own emergency department at the Stollery, with a separate Children's Emergency Entrance in the same building.
