About Georgetown Hospital

Georgetown Hospital is a hospital in Georgetown, Ontario. Emergency department. This service is open 24 hours a day.

Georgetown Hospital is a Halton Healthcare community hospital at 1 Princess Anne Drive in Georgetown, part of the Town of Halton Hills. It opened in 1961 on a 17-acre site and serves Halton Hills and nearby communities in Peel Region.

Its emergency department is open 24 hours a day for patients of all ages, with CT, X-ray, ultrasound and a lab on site. Instead of a full intensive care unit, Georgetown has an observation unit for patients who need closer monitoring; it can support a patient on a ventilator for up to 18 hours, and patients who need longer support are transferred to other hospitals.

Birthing services at Georgetown are temporarily relocated to Milton District Hospital until at least late fall/winter 2026, and there is currently no on-call obstetrician/gynecologist in Georgetown. For emergency care for pregnancy or gynecological concerns, Halton Healthcare asks patients to go to Milton District Hospital or Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.

How is the Georgetown Hospital ER wait time calculated?

Halton Healthcare publishes it as "Estimated wait to see a physician": Estimated wait time to see a physician in the Emergency Department. Halton Healthcare updates it every 15 minutes. We check it every 5 minutes. People with the most urgent needs are always seen first, so your own wait may be shorter or longer.

Is there an ER near Georgetown Hospital with a shorter wait?

"Nearby ER wait times right now", at the end of this page, lists the nearest tracked sites with their current waits. Should I go to urgent care instead of Georgetown Hospital?

Call 911 for anything life-threatening. An emergency department is for serious problems that need a hospital. Urgent care treats problems that are not life-threatening but need care the same day. For minor problems, a family doctor, walk-in clinic or pharmacist may be quicker. If you are not sure where to go, call Health811 at 811 for advice from a nurse.
