What does this number mean?

An estimate for someone arriving now, not a guaranteed wait. It is not the total time at the hospital. Sicker patients are seen first. How Halton Healthcare defines it

About Milton District Hospital

Milton District Hospital is a hospital in Milton, Ontario. Emergency department. This service is open 24 hours a day.

Milton District Hospital (MDH), often just called Milton Hospital, is a Halton Healthcare community hospital at 725 Bronte Street South, on a 40-acre site. It first opened in 1959. A new four-storey patient care building opened in 2017, tripling the size of the emergency department and bringing the hospital's first MRI.

The emergency department is open 24 hours a day for patients of all ages. Milton has an intensive care unit that also provides coronary care, a maternity unit with a Special Care Nursery, and CT and MRI. From October 2025, Halton Healthcare brought its inpatient and outpatient paediatric services together here.

While Georgetown Hospital's birthing services are temporarily relocated, patients in labour who arrive in Georgetown are assessed there and, if appropriate, transferred to Milton for delivery.

How is the Milton Hospital ER wait time calculated?

Halton Healthcare publishes it as "Estimated wait to see a physician": Estimated wait time to see a physician in the Emergency Department. Halton Healthcare updates it every 15 minutes. We check it every 5 minutes. People with the most urgent needs are always seen first, so your own wait may be shorter or longer.

Is there an ER near Milton Hospital with a shorter wait?

"Nearby ER wait times right now", at the end of this page, lists the nearest tracked sites with their current waits.
