We check it every 5 minutes and show its own label for the number. How this page works
An average of recorded waits over the provider's reporting period, not a prediction for someone arriving now. It is not the total time at the hospital. Sicker patients are seen first. How Hamilton Emergency Wait Times defines it
The colours are set by us, not by Hamilton Emergency Wait Times. Under 2 hours is the Canadian goal for even the least urgent patients. cihi.ca

West End Urgent Care Centre is a urgent care centre in Hamilton, Ontario. Urgent care: All ages.
West End Urgent Care Centre is a Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) walk-in centre at 690 Main Street West in Hamilton, in the West End Clinic. It offers walk-in medical care for urgent health concerns that can't wait for a family doctor, and is staffed by emergency room doctors. HHS lists minor cuts or wounds that may need stitches, simple broken bones, sprains and strains, ear infections, fevers, coughs, congestion and sore throats, and insect bites, rashes and scrapes. Urgent care centres treat all ages, children and adults, and no appointments are required. HHS says its urgent care centres give access to X-rays and ultrasounds (for certain conditions), with laboratory services located off-site. The West End Clinic also houses HHS's preoperative clinic and a special immunology clinic for children and adults living with HIV; these are separate from walk-in urgent care.
The centre is open 10 am to 9 pm every day, and HHS says Hamilton's two urgent care centres are open 365 days a year. HHS extended the hours on October 31, 2024, from noon to 7 pm. It is not an emergency department: in a medical emergency, call 911. The wait shown on this page is the average time from checking in at the front desk to seeing a doctor, averaged over the last six hours and updated every 15 minutes. The phone number is 905-521-2100, extension 72000. Hamilton Street Railway routes 1A King, 5 Delaware and 51 University stop at King Street and Macklin Street (westbound) and Main Street and Macklin Street (eastbound). The wait time posted refers to the length of time between when you arrive to the front desk to check in and when you see a doctor. The wait time is calculated by averaging the time that each patient has waited over the last six hours. Your experience can differ as the number and urgency of patients change.

Hamilton's hospitals say their computer systems update the published wait times automatically every 15 minutes. Our site checks the feed separately; checking more often does not make the hospital's estimate newer.

Hamilton's wait-time website says its departments can care for children. For choosing a service, Hamilton Health Sciences directs children aged 17 and under to McMaster Children's Hospital and lists Hamilton General, Juravinski and West Lincoln Memorial as adult emergency departments. Urgent care centres treat all ages. These routing recommendations do not mean a child in an emergency should delay care. Call 911 for a medical emergency.
