Brantford General Hospital is the acute care hospital of the Brant Community Healthcare System, at 200 Terrace Hill Street in Brantford. It opened in 1885 as the John H. Stratford Hospital and was renamed Brantford General Hospital in 1910. In 1999 it joined the Willett Hospital in Paris to form BCHS. Brantford General is the District Stroke Centre for Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk, and the regional centre for paediatrics, mental health, obstetrics and gynaecology, CT scanning, critical care and surgery. What is the Brantford General Hospital ER wait right now?

How is the Brantford General Hospital ER wait time calculated?

Brant Community Healthcare System publishes it as "Average wait to see a physician": The time between when you are greeted or triaged and the first time you see a physician. BCHS says 90% of its patients will see a physician in this amount of time, and updates it every 15 minutes. We check it every 5 minutes. People with the most urgent needs are always seen first, so your own wait may be shorter or longer.

Is there an ER near Brantford General Hospital with a shorter wait?

"Nearby ER wait times right now", at the end of this page, lists the nearest tracked sites with their current waits. Should I go to urgent care instead of Brantford General Hospital?

Call 911 for anything life-threatening. An emergency department is for serious problems that need a hospital. Urgent care treats problems that are not life-threatening but need care the same day. For minor problems, a family doctor, walk-in clinic or pharmacist may be quicker. If you are not sure where to go, call Health811 at 811 for advice from a nurse.
