We check it every 5 minutes and show its own label for the number. How this page works
An average of recorded waits over the provider's reporting period, not a prediction for someone arriving now. It is not the total time at the hospital. Sicker patients are seen first. How Windsor Regional Hospital emergency wait times defines it
The colours are set by us, not by Windsor Regional Hospital emergency wait times. Under 2 hours is the Canadian goal for even the least urgent patients. cihi.ca

Windsor Regional Hospital - Ouellette Campus is a hospital in Windsor, Ontario. Emergency department: All ages. This service is open 24 hours a day.
Windsor Regional Hospital's Ouellette Campus is at 1030 Ouellette Avenue in Windsor, Ontario. The hospital was founded in 1888 as Hôtel-Dieu of St. Joseph Hospital by the Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph, and its original building was demolished in 1963. It became part of Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital in an alliance effective 1 April 1994, and on 1 October 2013 Windsor Regional Hospital (WRH) took over the site as its Ouellette Campus, while Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare, a separate organization, took WRH's Tayfour Campus on Prince Road. WRH says the Ouellette Campus is designated as a Lead Trauma Hospital, serving any injured child or adult and accepting transfers, and is the designated District Stroke Centre for the region, delivering thrombolysis and endovascular thrombectomy. It has inpatient psychiatry for patients 16 and older, a cardiac catheterization laboratory, an intensive care unit on the 3rd floor, and diagnostic imaging with CT, MRI, ultrasound and X-ray. WRH publishes bed counts for the whole hospital only, not for each campus.
The emergency department is on the ground floor, through the main entrance, with access from Goyeau Street. It is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and WRH says it serves all ages; the department specializes in mental health, cardiac care, stroke and trauma. Children's inpatient care, births and obstetrical triage are at the Met Campus, 1995 Lens Avenue, as are children under 16 with mental health needs. The emergency department has not changed so far: construction of the new Fancsy Family Hospital, which WRH says will replace the Met and Ouellette campuses, began in July 2026, and after it opens WRH plans an Urgent Care/Satellite Emergency Department offering 24/7 services at the current Ouellette Campus.
The wait shown here is the one WRH posts on its wait-time page: an average of the time from being assessed by a triage nurse to seeing a doctor or nurse practitioner. The feed behind the page also gives the longest wait and the number of patients waiting, and is updated about every 15 minutes. The sickest patients are seen first, so an individual's wait may be much shorter or longer than the average. For problems that are not emergencies, you can call Health811 at 811 to speak with a registered nurse, 24 hours a day, or go to a walk-in clinic such as Windsor Urgent Care – West Walk-in Medical Clinic at 2055 Huron Church Road, which 211 Ontario (updated 13 May 2026) lists as open Monday and Wednesday 8 am to 5 pm, Tuesday and Thursday 8 am to 6 pm, and Friday and Saturday 9 am to 2 pm; Sunday is not listed. In an emergency, call 911.

At 9:15 pm EDT, the average wait to see a doctor or np was 3 hours 3 minutes (long wait), according to Windsor Regional Hospital emergency wait times. It changes as patients arrive, and the most urgent cases are always seen first.
"Nearby ER wait times right now", at the end of this page, lists the nearest tracked sites with their current waits. These are the nearest facilities in our tracked dataset, not necessarily every local care option. A shorter estimate is not a recommendation to travel farther. If it is an emergency, call 911.
For the information posted above, wait time refers to the length of time between being assessed by a triage nurse and seeing a doctor or nurse practitioner. This does not describe your entire visit or the wait for an inpatient bed.
The number of All Patients in the Emergency Department includes those waiting in the ED waiting room after being registered and triaged by the triage nurse, as well as all patients currently inside the ED being treated. The number of patients waiting for a physician refers to the number of patients who, after triage, have been called to the Emergency Department Zone and are awaiting an assessment from the physician.
The counts are not a queue position. Patients are prioritised by medical urgency.
Staff use the Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS) to assess urgency. The most critically ill patients are seen first, whether they arrive by ambulance or independently. New arrivals and the number of patients awaiting assessment can change the estimate.
