About Victoria General Hospital

Victoria General Hospital is a hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Urgent care. This service is open 24 hours a day.

Victoria General Hospital, known as Victoria Hospital, is a community hospital at 2340 Pembina Highway in Fort Richmond, beside the University of Manitoba, and an operating division of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. Founded in 1911 on River Avenue in Osborne Village, it moved to Pembina Highway in 1971.

Its Urgent Care Department is open 24 hours a day for unexpected but non-life-threatening problems that need same-day treatment. It is not an emergency department. Patients may arrive on their own or by ambulance; a triage nurse assesses each one, and they are seen by an urgent care physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner in order of medical need, not arrival. Diagnostics are done as needed, and patients are transferred to a higher-acuity hospital if required.

Understanding the wait

How is the Victoria General Hospital Winnipeg urgent care wait time calculated?

WRHA Urgent Care publishes it as "Wait to see a physician, PA or NP": The time in hours between being registered and seeing a physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner. Due to rapidly changing demands and the need to see the sickest patients first, WRHA notes that your own wait time may be more or less than the time displayed. We check it every 5 minutes. People with the most urgent needs are always seen first, so your own wait may be shorter or longer.

Is there an urgent care near Victoria General Hospital Winnipeg with a shorter wait?

"Nearby urgent care wait times right now", at the end of this page, lists the nearest tracked sites with their current waits. These are the nearest facilities in our tracked dataset, not necessarily every local care option. A shorter estimate is not a recommendation to travel farther. If it is an emergency, call 911.
